Giving and Receiving - The Angel Therapy Handbook

How do you feel about people accepting money for spiritually based actions?

If you hold an idealistic sense of altruism, a belief that we should freely give that which God gave to us, I totally understand your feelings. And if you have other sources of income that still allow you enough time to focus upon your spiritual teaching and healing work, then wonderful! Feel free to give away your spiritual offerings as you are guided to.

For many people, volunteer work and selfless service are the foundations of personal spiritual growth. And I got my first job as a counselor after volunteering at a hospital for several months, so there are also practical benefits to donating your time.

Those who abhor the idea of accepting payment for spiritual work are likely recalling past lifetimes when they lived in communal settings such as a lamasery (a monastery of lamas) or monastery. In those lifetimes, your food and shelter were provided for. You were free to focus upon your spiritual path without regard for earning an income.

But in modern times, we usually need to a salary to pay our bills. You don’t live in a communal setting; and you’re responsible for your utilities, mortgage, and groceries. You likely have a job right now that pays your bills. The question is: do you love your job?

I believe that we’re meant to work in jobs that bring us and others joy. We’re meant to have careers that are personally meaningful, which we feel good about. And when we love our work, everything else (like getting paid) naturally falls into place.

When you love what you do, your primary focus isn’t money based; it’s love based. Yet, you still make money, because this is the natural order of giving and receiving.

Giving and Receiving Are Equally Important

When you give a reading or conduct a counseling session, workshop, or other helpful offering, it’s only right that you receive something in exchange. Giving and receiving are equally important energies, and both are required for a balanced life.

Lightworkers are natural givers and caretakers. It’s in our souls, instincts, and DNA to help others to feel happier and healthier. So we don’t want to block or fight this inclination.

However, it’s vital to balance all that giving with an equal measure of receiving. Some lightworkers feel uncomfortable receiving, because the ego makes you feel:

• Obligated: “If you give something to me, then I owe you.”

• Unneeded: “As long as I’m the one doing the giving, then I’m needed. But if you give to me, then I need you.”

• Out of control: “I can control myself and my actions, but I can’t control you if you’re giving to me.”

• Guilty: “I don’t feel worthy of receiving from you.”

• Passive-aggressive: “I don’t want to give you the satisfaction of pleasing me.”

These (usually unconscious) ego-based feelings and fears can stem from past lifetimes where you played the role of servant or slave or were otherwise controlled. Usually, however, these blocks stem from listening to the ego, which is all about fear, and its under-the-radar plan is to keep you from remembering your Divine identity and life purpose. The ego wants to keep you and others afraid and insecure, because that’s its foundation and lifeblood.

Fortunately, you don’t have any reason to listen to the ego’s blather, because your higher self (who is one with God) is that part of you that performs the spiritual services you’re offering. Your higher self already is a spiritual teacher, healer, lightworker, and so forth.

You express pure Divine love, wisdom, and creativity through your higher self, like a clear prism on a sunny day.

If you only give and don’t allow yourself to receive, you’ll feel burned-out and drained. You’ll also be resentful, because deep down, you’ll wish that others would guess your needs and fulfill them. This isn’t fair in relationships, though. You’ve got to tell people what is important to you. If they’re unresponsive to your needs and you’ve clearly outlined what they are, well, then it’s time to rethink that relationship.

Giving is a masculine energy, and receiving is a feminine energy. As discussed in my book Divine Magic, both are needed in a well-balanced life. Besides, receiving and feminine energy are the basis of psychic awareness. To hear the Divine messages, you’ve got to be receptive. Otherwise, it’s like having a conversation where no one is listening.

Every day, practice giving and receiving at least three times. When someone offers to help you, smile and say, “Yes, please” or “Thank you.” Give any guilt or other harsh emotions to God and the angels. The exception would be if you get a strong gut feeling not to interact with a particular person. Always follow your gut.

When your clients or students pay you, similarly just say, “Thank you,” and write them a receipt. Please don’t talk about your discomfort or guilt about accepting money. Save that conversation for God and your guardian angels, who can reassure you and heal your feelings.

By accepting payment for your services, you are performing an “energy exchange,” where the giving you just expended is balanced by receiving payment. Your clients or students will appreciate your services even more, since they exchanged something of value in order to receive it.

You are no different from other healers who accept payment, such as doctors or nurses (which are also sacred professions like yours).

As you put a price on your services, you are supported in important ways. The money allows you to devote more time to your healing and teaching practice. If you don’t accept it, then you’ll have to spend valuable time at a job to earn it . . . and this is time that you could use instead in service to your students, clients, and God. The money you earn can also be donated to your favorite charity.

Your past lifetime where you stood with a begging bowl is over. Today, you are a professional who deserves remuneration for your work. Remember that God answers prayers through people. Your students and clients who want to pay you for your work are part of the answer to your prayers. Just say “Yes” and “Thank you,” as you allow yourself to receive.

Alan's Testimonial

I knew Alan from one of my colleagues who is studying in the same Private University as him. I am very grateful to her for recommending Alan to teach Principle of Accounts to Keith, as Keith is currently taking his O'levels this year.

I received good feedback from Keith's mom, when I met up with her for some snacks last week. She complimented that both Alan and Jane are very good tutors and I would like to share a testimonial that Keith wrote for Alan :)

Alan is planning to do tuition full time eventually, and is in my opinion, he is excellent at teaching Accounting.

Do contact me if you would like to engage Alan for Principle of Accounts tuition for find out more :)

Blessed be,

Kathy

Successful Link-ups – 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

Dear Friends,

Have not been updating my blog for a long time =(
Here's the reason:-

I've been busy and run out of batteries :) Ha ha ha

Updates on some successful link-ups:-

6) Jane – E. Math for a Sec. 4 boy

7) Jane – E. Math for Keith who is in Sec. 4 this year

8) Alan – Principle of Accounts for Keith who is in Sec. 4 this year

9) Alan – Principle of Accounts (private course) for Karen who is Keith’s sister

10) Myself – English and Math for a Primary 2 girl to commence in June

I’m happy for Jane that her Tuition slots are now full. She will not be accepting any new students now as she is currently taking part-time Master’s Degree in Human Resource.

I have a friend who is a Master’s Degree holder and is excellent in Math, joining the Tuition bandwagon. She is able to teach Math for all levels. Do contact me if you are keen or know of anyone who may be interested in finding a good Math tutor.

I received a piece of good news from Alan that Keith had topped his class for his Principle of Accounts mid-year exam paper, despite having no Accounting background previously!

Link-ups bring me joy especially so when students get good tutors and good grades, and my friends have an opportunity to master their teaching skills and make meaningful contributions.

More to come  =)

Blessed be,
Kathy

Successful Link-up for Piano – 1

My Dear Friends,
It’s been some time since I updated my blog. Since the purpose of this blog is to create an avenue to link-up the services that my family and friends have to provide to people who need them.
I am happy to have matched Claire, a friend of my ex Secondary school classmate who had a keen interest in learning piano to my friend, “Dimples”, who is an experienced Piano Teacher. Claire started piano lessons under “Dimples” care for more than a month. A good and determined piano student, she is planning to take piano exams eventually.
I am sure that Claire will pass her piano exams with flying colours under “Dimples” tutelage. J

Sophine’s Free Pet Dog Boarding Home Service

I had a very heartwarming dinner this evening with two of my ex-colleagues from A*STAR and I totally enjoyed their company!  Having not seen Sophine and Eleina for 4 years, the three of us have had a very good catch-up session.
After leaving A*STAR 4 years ago, Sophine has been a full-time jewelry crafter. Every single piece has been painstakingly handcrafted by her with quality materials and is affordably priced.
Our meeting today inspired me to write about Sophine’s Pet Boarding Home Service, which she provides free-of-charge. Sophine’s generosity, kindness and love for dogs is truly admirable!
The following is an account in Sophine’s own words, taken from her Facebook page:

“ Pom Boarding Home Service
This is something that i always wanted to do.
If you need someone to take care of your pom (or any lapdog below 4kg) while you go for an overseas holidays, I can do home boarding for your pet. From the comfort of my HDB home (Woodlands). Your pet will be free to move around together with my 4 poms, no caging. Boarding pet must be free of fleas and ticks. This is not a drop & run pet shelter, so please allow me to see your photo ID before leaving your pet. Cost is zero damage. ”

For anyone who is planning for an overseas trip and have no one to care for their lapdog, you may wish to consider engaging Sophine’s Pet Dog Boarding Home Service. I am sure your little one will be showered with tender loving care and receive lots of love from Sophine and her 4 Pomeranians. J Look at how happy her poms are!

Back to Sophine's jewelry crafting, below are some of Sophine’s creations. She does make other items besides jewelry and they make nice personalized gifts for you and your loved ones. You may view her website at http://www.sophinegiam.etsy.com for her full range of available items.

Dear Sophine and Eleina, thank you for your wonderful company this evening and I hope that we could meet with one another more often in future. Sophine, I would like to thank you once again for your lovely heart-shaped rose quartz crystals you gave both of us this evening.

A big thank you to those who take time to view and share my blog and for your kind support!

With Love & Light,
Kathy

Sean's First Testimonial and First Customer!

Received an encouraging comment (below) from Edwin on Sunday, right after Sean fixed his computer problem.

As an avid gamer, this intermittent internet disconnection coupled with slow PC speed had been disrupting Edwin's computer usage for some time. Previously, Edwin had sought help from his other friends but they could not solve this issue. He even contacted his service provider, Singtel, and they confirmed that the internet connection was fine. Edwin had almost given up hope!

Though they have been friends for years, Edwin was not aware that Sean could repair computers until I shared my blog with him. He immediately contacted Sean last Friday to enquire if Sean could help him with his PC issue which had been troubling him for months, and Sean readily agreed to go down to take a look on Sunday, 24 Feb.

Sean diagnosed that Edwin's PC had been infected with two different types of viruses and helped him restore his PC to its pristine state.

Edwin can now play his games smoothly and use his computer with ease and was satisfied and happy when he thanked Sean. Feeling a sense of fulfillment when he brought a smile upon Edwin's face, Sean hopes that he can reach out to more people and solve their PC issues.

I wish that everything goes well for Edwin and am glad that Sean finds joy in doing what he enjoys!

A. Math and E. Math Tuition

I got to know Jane during my NUS days. A kind-hearted and responsible lady, she never fails to put in her best in whatever she does. Currently, she is assuming a full time career in Human Resource and is looking to resume giving tuition after office hours in A Math and E Math for Secondary students.

Jane has 7 years of experience in teaching and her ex-students under her care, stayed on with her for years until they eventually graduate. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, at the National University of Singapore, majoring in Statistics and Economics, she is strong in her Maths and scored distinction in her Math C at JC level.

As her good friend for many years, I am sure that students under her tutelage will be in good hands for their E Math and/or A Math and I have no qualms that they will score well in their tests and exams.

Do drop me an email at faeriel.belle@gmail.com if you like to find out more.

Lower Primary Maths and Chinese Tuition

I remember vividly, the days where Clarence and I were ex-colleagues. Despite being in different departments, he will always lend a helping hand to anyone who approaches him for help.

For events that are not related to work, like the charity fun fair to help raise funds for under-privileged children, he will make time to help out. A dependable, friendly and soft-spoken guy, he is someone who will stand up for what is right.

Clarence is currently working at an organization that requires him to work closely with School Principals and Teachers and he had received compliments from them for his good work. He intends to give tuition to lower Primary School students on Math and Chinese during his free time after work or weekends to supplement his parents’ living expenses.

He is holds a University Degree but is new to giving tuition. Though he does not have prior experience, I am sure that he has the qualities of a good Teacher as he is a responsible and knowledgeable person.

If you would like to find out more, please email me at faeriel.belle@gmail.com

Chinese Tuition

My dear Aunt, Mrs Loke, is a full time Chinese Language Tutor with 15 years of teaching experience. She is a very dedicated Chinese Tutor, who tutored my brother and I Chinese, from Primary 1 up to Secondary 4.

As my brother and I come from an English background, we hardly spoke a single word of Mandarin at home. I remember clearly that Mrs Loke would ensure that we memorize our Chinese idioms well. She would make sure that we understood the usage of the idioms and Chinese words well and demonstrate to her that we could apply them skillfully.

Her high standards molded us to be a notch above the rest, which eventually enabled us to score straight ‘A’s in our PSLE and O’levels, and we are truly grateful to her for that.

Mrs Loke is available to conduct her lessons at the student’s place or at her own home somewhere near Toa Payoh.

Feel free to drop me an email at  faeriel.belle@gmail.com if you like to find out more.

Computer Maintenance Service

For this post, I am writing for a close member of my family, Sean, who has a passion for computers and electronics. However, Sean had taken it to another level by majoring in Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

Currently, Sean is working in an IT industry and he is planning to extend his passion and interest by helping others repair and maintain their computers and laptops during his free time.

In the past, during his JC and Uni days, he had provided freelance PC repair/maintenance and gave tuition to students to earn extra income to pay for his school fees and daily expenses, in order to ease the burden of his family.

A helpful, friendly and focused guy, he never fails to be the first person to be approached by family, friends and relatives to repair their PCs, laptops and is frequently being consulted for such problems.
If you have any enquiries, please drop me an email at faeriel.belle@gmail.com and he will contact you shortly.

Learning Piano

For my very first post, I would like to introduce, ‘Dimples’, a gentle and kind lady whom I got to know through my friend, GG.
‘Dimples’ is a full time Piano Teacher with a music Degree and 20 years of teaching experience. She is skilful in playing the piano and patient with children. The best thing about learning from her, in my opinion, is that most of her students score distinctions for their exams!

I hope to help her find more students as some of her students have graduated or are about to graduate.

Being the curious person that I am, I tried googling on the benefits of playing piano online and have found that it increases learning power in children, memory and language skills.  It also aids the child in his or her aptitude in Math and Science. Learning music also helps in emotional health and self-esteem. You may find out more in the link here http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2007/08/03/the-benefits-of-playing-piano.htm

Dimples’ piano lessons are conducted at her home, which is located near the MRT station and she is using a Grand piano. With her qualifications and experience, the rates she charges are very reasonable, and in my opinion, below the market rate.

Do drop me an email at faeriel.belle@gmail.com for more details.

Kathy

Welcome to my little sanctuary. This is a place for me to share with everyone, things that are close to my heart.

The purpose of this blog is to help my family; friends and relatives make a comfortable living, part-time or full time, with their skills and expertise. With rising inflation costs here in Singapore, and worldwide, we try our best to help one another.

I am most grateful to my dearest friend, GG, as I would not have started this blog without her encouragement and support. Thank you for making this possible, my dear friend!

The profiles of the people listed on my blog are of my family and friends whom I personally know and most of them are people whom I am close with and know for a long time. They are good-natured, sincere, honest and down-to-earth people who are good at what they do.  People who have integrity and commitment, who would like to share and contribute their skills and knowledge in the areas that they are good at and the things they do best to society.

I seek your kind understanding as the names of some of my friends have been changed or shortened as it is their wish to keep a low profile on cyberspace. Prior permission and approval had been sought from each and every one for every profile that I write for, before I upload onto my blog.

Besides the above, I’m planning to write on animals and environmental issues, help a friend sell her collectible teddy bears to raise funds for charity etc. For services that are not listed on my blog, please feel free to drop me an email and I will try my best to help match as I may have other sources that are yet to be listed here. For example: room rental, clothing alteration services, freelance accounting, taxi booking, learning foreign languages, insurance etc. Or if you are from overseas and like to know more about Singapore, I can make some free time to show you around or provide you with information about our country.

Please feel free to drop me an email if you have any enquiry at faeriel.belle@gmail.com and I will address your questions as best as I can. My apologies to you if there should be any lapse or delay in response on my part, as I am currently juggling a full time job, giving part-time tuition and doing my best to maintain and keep this blog updated.

I welcome all, as I like making new friends.

With Love and Light,

Kathy
